This exciting new resource has been developed for the Home Economics Strand of Learning for Life and Work in the revised curriculum at Key Stage 3. > Refreshing new approach > Development of Skills and Capabilities and active learning > Creativity and experimentation encouraged > Open, colourful design > Variety of great recipe ideas
Designed to encourage creativity, experimentation and nutritional awareness, this is much more than a simple recipe book.
An introductory section offers guidance on hygiene and safety, practical cooking skills, and designing an original dish, as well as providing an A-Z of the various types of foods.
The rest of the book is divided into themed sections, each based on a food group. Each section contains both practical and research-based activities, and suggested recipe ideas for a stunning range of great dishes. Each recipe idea sets out the practical skills required, equipment, basic ingredients, optional ingredients, and step-by-step method. Through giving a twist to traditional favourites and offering tips on variations and optional ingredients, students are encouraged to get creative and take the initiative in the kitchen - developing basic recipes into their own exciting creations.
This book is wire bound to lie flat in the classroom.
This resource is an excellent starting point for Key Stage 3 Home Economics, giving students the skills to create their own healthy meals and snacks. It also provides the opportunity to connect teaching and learning in Home Economics with other areas of the curriculum.
A short teacher leaflet is also available (and will normally be provided free with each class set purchased), and offers guidance on how to use the textbook in class to maximise creativity and develop other Skills and capabilities.
