This entirely new pupil textbook has been specially written for the CCEA AS and A2 Level ICT specification. The comprehensive text covers all six modules, including the AS and A2 coursework elements and is supported by a large number of photographs, screen shots and diagrams.

The basic course material is enhanced with extended quotations from recent media articles and advertisements that focus on ICT issues. Where appropriate, these are chosen to be particularly relevant to Northern Ireland pupils. Tasks are to be found throughout the book that are designed to encourage pupils to look at various aspects in more detail and to explore the complexity of the issues associated with real world ICT.

Most examination sections terminate with a series of questions designed to test pupil knowledge and assist with revision. Each of the examined modules also includes sample questions from recent past papers set by CCEA.

The online resource centre to accompany this book includes extended examples of databases, dataflow diagrams and a glossary.

The two authors represent the two essential elements required to produce a textbook of this standard. Clarke Rice has current experience teaching AS and A2 Level ICT at a school in Coleraine. Keith Redfern has been working as a computer scientist in industry for a number of years. This text is thus a standard text for the classroom which will lead students into the real world of ICT.

The Authors

Clarke Rice teaches AS/A2 ICT at a grammar school in Coleraine.
