Reading and Writing GCSE English

This pupil text has been written to cover the Internally Assessed Component, Reading and Writing, for the GCSE English syllabus.
The contents are as follows: (1) Introduction Questions often asked about GCSE coursework
(2) Reading Approaches to poetry Advice on tasks Approaches to drama, with reference to MacBeth and Romeo and Juliet plus generic guidance to the subject Advice on tasks
(3) Writing Aims Spelling, punctuation and grammar Persuasive writing Creative and personal writing
Practical tasks are spread throughout the text, giving ample opportunity for classroom activity work.
Freddy Clifford is teacher of English, English Literature and Media Studies KS3 / A Level for 28 years. He has an MA in Education and a PQH. He is a Senior Teacher at Oakgrove College, Derry (former Head of English); Principal Moderator for GCSE English (CCEA); Chief Examiner/ Principal Moderator for ELQ English (CCEA); N Ireland Adviser for AS and A2 Media Studies (AQA).
Pat McGuckian has been a teacher of English and English Literature from KS3 to A Level for 20 years. She has an MA in English Literature, an Advanced Certificate in Education, a PQH and is Senior Teacher and Curriculum Manager in St Malachys College, Belfast (former Head of English). Seconded to ETI as Inspector of English from 2001-2002. Former Assistant Principal Moderator for GCSE English (CCEA). Appointed Associate Assessor with ETI in 2004.
