Talking and Listening GCSE English

This pupil text has been written to cover the Internally Assessed Component, Talking and Listening, for the GCSE English syllabus.
The author asks: > What is good communication? > How can we communicate better? > We hear, but are we really listening?
As the author explains "..being able to listen attentively and talk in an articulate and confident manner is a valuable asset in any sphere of employment or life."
The book is divided into three sections dealing with each of the forms of speech required for GCSE assessment: > Individual extended contributions > Group interaction > Drama-focused activities

Evelyn Shaw has been closely involved in preparing materials for teaching and assessing Talking and Listening for many years. She is Principal Moderator with CCEA for GCSE English Talking and Listening.
In addition, she has had a life-long career in teaching and was Head of English in Regent House School, Newtownards. She has also lectured part time in Stranmillis University College. |
