The Race to Rule Ireland & Europe 1570-1700

Category: KS3 History

This book is a greatly improved new edition of Colourpoint’s popular text Britain Ireland and Europe 1570-1745. The Race to Rule now includes full colour and a greatly improved layout, bringing it up to the same standard as the others in the series.

Sections are as before:
> Causes of European rivalries (including case studies on Mary Queen of Scots and the Spanish Armada);
> the experience of colonisation and plantation (including Ireland and in particular, Ulster);
> political and religious conflict in Britain (including the Gunpowder plot and Cromwell, particularly Cromwell in Ireland);
> the Williamite wars (including the siege of Derry, the Boyne, Limerick and Aughrim).

An attractive book for children of secondary school age and parents will find a stimulating resource to cover this important period, with the added bonus of Irish-orientated content where relevant.
