Superpower Rivalry (Higher): Relations between the US and Soviet Union 1945-91

Category: GCSE History

This book is a study of relations between America and the Soviet Union in the era of the Cold War, between 1945 and the collapse of communism in 1991. Among other topics it includes the Berlin crisis, the arms race, the Korean, Vietnam and Afghan wars, and the emergence of détente and Gorbachev.

This book is aso available in a Foundation version. Pictures and sources are identical to the Higher level text, but the Foundation level text is easier, of a larger type size, and the questions are adjusted to take account of ability.

This book is aimed at 15 to 17 year olds studying history, but it will also attract adults who are interested in modern history but like an illustrated book that is not too academic in approach.

The Author

Laura Kwasniewska is an experienced history teacher from Northern Ireland. She is currently seconded to the Western Education and Library Board as an advisory teacher in Environment and Society. Her MA is in international relations between 1945 and 1991.
