Peace, War & Neutrality (Higher): Britain, Northern Ireland & Eire 1935-49 Category: GCSE History A study of relations between Ireland, Britain and Northern Ireland in the era of the Second World War. Starting in 1935, the book charts the rise of Nazi Germany, the origins of the war and its progress up to 1941, followed by an examination of Northern Irelands role in the war. The book also examines and assesses the issue of Irish neutrality and how it affected relations between Éire and the United Kingdom. The first four post-war years are also covered. Colourfully illustrated, the book contains previously unpublished colour photographs of Dublin in 1949 and Belfast in 1953. The Author Norman Johnston is a retired history teacher from Bangor in Co Down, Northern Ireland. Before retiring he was Head of History at Omagh Academy and chief Coursework Moderator for GCSE history with the Northern Ireland Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment.
