Peace, War & Neutrality (Higher): Britain, Northern Ireland & Eire 1935-49

Category: GCSE History

A study of relations between Ireland, Britain and Northern Ireland in the era of the Second World War. Starting in 1935, the book charts the rise of Nazi Germany, the origins of the war and its progress up to 1941, followed by an examination of Northern Ireland’s role in the war. The book also examines and assesses the issue of Irish neutrality and how it affected relations between Éire and the United Kingdom. The first four post-war years are also covered. Colourfully illustrated, the book contains previously unpublished colour photographs of Dublin in 1949 and Belfast in 1953.

This book is aso available in a Foundation version. Pictures and sources are identical, but the Foundation level text is easier, of a larger type size, and the questions are adjusted to take account of ability.

This book is aimed at 15 to 17 year olds studying GCSE history, but it will also attract adults who are interested in modern history but like an illustrated book that is not too academic in approach.
