Airships Over The North Channel: Royal Naval Air Service Airships in Ulster during the First World War

Category: Transport

This is the story of the first military aviation facility in Ireland: the Royal Naval Air Service airships which patrolled the waters between Ireland and Scotland during the First World War combatting the German U-Boat menace.

This is also an important piece of local history as the airships flew from Bentra, near Whitehead, in county Antrim supporting the naval forces based in Larne.
