This event was held on Sunday 23 October 2005 and the public were able to sample heritage vehicles on several routes around the Wiltshire town. Unfortunately space precludes us from showing only a small sample of the vehicles in use. These pictures are copyright Paul Savage. Back in 1965 London Transport purchased 50 XA class Leyland Atlanteans and 8 of these XF class Park Royal-bodied Daimler Fleetlines for comparison with the RML class Routemaster. The Fleetlines were initially allocated to the Country Bus department and wore green livery.

This Wilts and Dorset coach is a 1947 Bristol L6B with Beadle 32-seat coach body and, as indicated by the ‘B’ in the chassis designation, a Bristol engine.

Exeter Corporation purchased this 35-seater Weymann-bodied Daimler CVD6 in 1949.

OHU 38M is a 1973 Bristol RELL with ECW body and powered with a Leyland engine. New to Bristol Omnibus, it is now preserved in England having previously operated for Citybus in Belfast.

Wearing Solent Blue Line livery, this Bristol VRT was new to Southern Vectis in 1975 as No 637. After 13 years service on the Island it was transferred to Solent Blue Line as its No 37 and was later sold to Taylor, Sutton Scotney.

Royal Blue was once a familiar name on the roads, particularly to the southwest of England. This 1951 AEC-engined Bristol L, with 37-seat coachwork by ECW has been beautifully restored.

A later ECW-bodied Royal Blue coach is this 45-seat Bristol RELH, new in 1964. This RE features a manual gearbox, rather than the more familiar semi-automatic. It is seen at Shaftesbury, well-known for Gold Hill which featured in TV adverts for Hovis.

This lovely vehicle is a Leyland Tiger Cub new to Silver Star, Porton Down. It is seen in company with two ECW-bodied Bristols.
