A bus rally was held at the Dublin Bus garage at Harristown on Sunday 30 October 2005 to mark 60 years since the formation of the state-owned transport operator, Coras Iompair Eireann. There was a good turnout of both preserved and current vehicles, along with a good representation from enthusiasts in Northern Ireland – four Bristol REs, a Guy Arab single-decker – along with a new Optare Solo and Volvo B7TL from Translink. Atlantean DF450. DF450 carries this unusual colour scheme for use on Ghost Bus tours of Olde Dublin. The bodywork on this class was constructed by CIE on Metal Sections frames. From D603 onwards Van Hool/McArdle built the bodies to a boxier design.

A further ‘Capital contrast’ with Bombardier KD class double-decker KD199, in driver training livery, and preserved Routemaster RML 2453, which has only recently arrived in Ireland (October 2005). The KD class, like other Bombardier and later GAC products, was built at Shannon. KD199 was new in 1982 and like the majority of the class is powered by a 6V-71 two stroke Detroit diesel engine.

KE35. This is one of 51 Bombardier-built coaches delivered to CIE in 1981 for use on Expressway services. The production batch was KE2–50. KE35 now carries the later Bus Eireann white-based livery.
