| Chapter 1 - Atmosphere and Human Impact |
There are so many weather sites it is impossible to give more than a few of the more relevant ones. A good search engine and a few well-chosen words will literally give you thousands of sites! This is the met office site for local information. They have links to the UK sites and satellite pictures from here. www.met-office.gov.uk/climate/uk/location/nireland The BBC site has a lot of useful maps which link in well to GCSE. This site gives statistics for virtually anywhere in the world. These sites give climate figures for local stations and an up to date forecast There are an increasing number of farm sites on the Internet, these are either
relevant to the book or of general interest. |

| Chapter 2 - Physical Processes and Challenges |
These sites all give links to the Burren area. The first one is the Burren Action Group website and is full of background information and a full account of the series of court battles over the eight year period of the campaign to save Mullaghmore. http://www.iol.ie/~burrenag/ This is a general site on limestone scenery in Ireland These sites links in to the Marble Arch area. This is a school site with two addresses. The first is a useful site on the
water cycle while the second is about rivers and measuring. This is a site full of statistics. The link given refers to discharge and length
of rivers but you can go to the home page and find lists of all things geographical. If
you want to find out the largest city, highest mountain, largest oil producer or highest
GNP, then this is the site for you. |

| Chapter 3 - Ecosystems and Sustainability |
The Irish Peat Conservancy Council site is a good starting point for the formation and importance of peat. http://www.ipcc.ie The Environmental Heritage Site has a lot of useful information on
all sites of Special Scientific Interest, Ramsar Sites and National Nature Reserves, which
you can access by following the links from the site designation page. Many of these are
about specific ecosystems other than peat; the peat related ones are given below. This site refers to blanket bog in the UK. This is the site of the International Peat Society, and has links to peat habitats in other countries. http://www.peatsociety.fi/index.htm This is one of the Friends of the Earth sites, which relates to the campaign to
save Ballynahone raised bog. These sites give the peat argument from the point of view of
companies and organisations that feel that peat is a valuable natural resource, which
should be exploited. The first two also give a lot of useful background to peat, its
formation and its uses. |

| Chapter 5 - Economic Change and Development |
These sites are linked to open farms http://www.kingdomsofdown.com/things/openfarms.htm http://www.streamvale.com/ The
Castlecourt site has an interesting page on the history of the site, This is the main IDB site Details on Antrim Technology Park can be found at All these sites have links and information to Fair Trade The Human development index can be found at |

| Chapter 6 - Urban Environments |
This is the site for updates and information on Laganside http://www.laganside.com There
are several sites which deal with wall murals and their ethnic identities; this is one of
the most extensive. There are a number of sites which look at sustainability and recycling, the Arc21 site is the best one to find out what is happening to your rubbish in the East of the Province. The second site gives details of the Bryson House kerbside collection scheme, while the third one is aimed more at industrial recycling and in pointing industries at markets for their waste. One industrys waste can be another industrys raw material. You can see what is happening at Down Council by following the fourth link to the Council website. www.arc21.com This is a general Geography site that will act as a starting off
point for a number of topics. I have included it here because the settlement sections are
particularly good, follow the links to settlement but have a look at the other topics,
which are all relevant and pitched at a reasonable level! A general revision site. The first link is the revision index, while the next
two links deal with urban dynamism and urban growth. A general revision site. The first address is the index while the second focuses
on settlement hierarchy. A general revision site from the International Baccalaureate organisation. The
first address is the index while the second focuses on settlement hierarchy Another school site with a good section on settlements. Like many of the others
it is worth a having a look at the other sections and links. |
