| The newest trains on NIR are the 23 C3K trains currently under delivery from CAF in Spain. The sets carry the fleet numbers 3001-23. Each set comprises three cars, individually numbered 3301, 3501, 3401 etc. All cars are powered. At present, 12 of the 23 sets have been delivered. Note: By

After several months of running trials and driver training, the first C3K trains entered public service on Wednesday 24 November 2004 on the 10.32 Portadown to Bangor. Set 3001 is seen arriving at Sydenham on the first run, with car 3301 leading.
